Crime Prevention Advice – Keeping Your Bike Safe at ASDA, Beverley Road, Hull

Dear Residents,

We are reminding everyone to take a few simple precautions to help prevent vehicle crime in our community.

Thieves often look for easy opportunities, and items such as wallets, purses, bank cards and cash can be particularly attractive if they are left inside vehicles. Even an item that appears to have little value can encourage someone to break into a vehicle.

To help keep yourself and your belongings safe, please remember:

Never leave your wallet, purse, bank cards or cash inside your vehicle, even for a short time.

Avoid leaving bags, coats, shopping or other items on display, as these can suggest that valuables may be hidden inside.

Lock your vehicle every time you leave it, and check that the doors and windows are securely closed.

If you have to leave something in your vehicle, keep it out of sight and preferably locked away in the boot before you arrive at your destination.

When parking, choose a well-lit, busy and secure location where possible.

Do not leave spare keys, vehicle documents or personal information inside the vehicle.

If your wallet or bank cards are stolen, contact your bank or card provider immediately to cancel or freeze your cards and monitor your accounts for suspicious activity.

If you are a victim of vehicle crime or witness suspicious activity, please report it. Your information can help police identify patterns, gather intelligence and prevent further offences.
